Changing life in lakes
Very briefly, the research of my group could
be summed up with one question:
How
are
we, how
is
humanity
changing life in
lakes?
In the Anthropocene, our ecosystems are faced
with changes of unprecedented speed and extent. In
my group, we are
interested to understand how the ecology and evolution of populations is directly shaped by
human impacts or indirectly
through cascading effects by changes at lower trophic levels. Our work focusses mostly on phyto-
and zooplankton. While
we are interested in understanding how ecosystem change leads to evolutionary change, our goal
is also to study how
evolutionary change in return feedbacks to ecoystem change.
